China has now become the world's fourth largest producer of ink. There are over 400 small and medium-sized enterprises scattered across the country, but none of them can account for 10% of the national total output. Meanwhile, there are over 200 manufacturers of water-based ink, and no more than 10 of them have an annual production capacity of over 1,000 tons of water-based ink. The distribution of the ink industry in China is uneven across different regions, with significant differences between the east and the west. The major ink enterprises are mostly concentrated in the South China region, with Guangdong being the main area, followed by the areas around Shanghai and Tianjin.

East China Region: The demand for ink has seen a significant increase in recent years. Among them, the growth rates of offset ink and flexographic ink have stabilized, while the growth rate of plastic ink remains high. The market competition has become more intense, and product prices have fluctuated. Enterprises need to win the market with high quality, low prices and excellent services.

South China region: The demand for ink has increased compared to previous years. However, due to the prominent contradiction between supply and demand, the prices continue to decline, and the competition will become even more intense.

Southwest Region: A large number of new small and medium-sized ink manufacturers have emerged, with varying quality standards. The problem of low prices competing for the market is particularly prominent. Due to the constraints of price factors, production enterprises find it difficult to develop new products, which has an impact on the overall improvement of the industry's standards.

North China Region: The ink market in this area exhibits three main characteristics - water-based flexible offset printing inks and UV series inks are developing rapidly; offset printing inks are mainly dominated by local products in this region; solvent-based inks will gradually withdraw from the market, and water-based inks will gradually take up a larger proportion.

Western Region: Due to the relatively underdeveloped economic conditions in this region, the demand for ink quality is not very high, and there is considerable market potential.

Industry experts believe that the demand for special inks such as offset printing ink, screen printing ink, flexographic ink and others in the domestic market will show an upward trend. Moreover, with the enhanced environmental awareness of the Chinese people, advanced oil-based and water-based environmentally friendly inks will experience rapid growth.
